Photo Counter

Count solar panels in an aerial photo

Outline one panel or tracker in a drone or aerial photo, and the rest are counted: solar parks, rooftops, and other rows of repeated objects seen from above.

Tips for this count

  • A photo from straight above works best; an angled photo works when the objects keep a similar size.
  • Large photos are reduced to 2400 pixels on the long side: crop to the part you need, so each object stays large enough.
  • Draw the count area to leave out roads, buildings and other parts of the site.
  • Rows that change in colour or shadow across the site count better with Smart AI.

What people use it for

Checking an installation or a site survey, counting panels from a drone flight, and other counts from aerial photos.

For a good count

  • Take the photo straight on, with even light and no strong shadows.
  • The objects should look alike and not overlap much.
  • Any size works. Large photos are reduced to 2400 pixels on the long side, so very small objects in a huge photo are best cropped first.
